About

Boilermakers Local 433 has a strong, loyal membership of approximately 500 industrial construction professionals. We recruit from entry level apprentices to experienced, qualified journeymen workers. Our primary employers are contractors that serve industrial facilities, paper mills, refineries, power plants, chemical plants, phosphate mines, biofuels, and steel mills and shipyards. Our members perform emergency repairs, maintenance work, and new construction.

Boilermakers Local 433 members are field construction professionals. A Boilermaker is a skilled craftsperson who works in a labor-intensive profession that is quite often environmentally hostile. To work in the boilermaker profession a person must always remember that it is construction, which means that the construction job will be completed and they will be laid off and will have to go to another contractor’s job site. Boilermakers work in industrial construction, so a Boilermaker will be employed almost exclusively on industrial sites. The profession often requires traveling for extended periods.

As a Boilermaker you should be capable of working 7-day work weeks and up to 12 hours per day while standing, sitting, kneeling, or squatting for extended periods at extreme heights and/or in very hot and very cold conditions. You must also be capable of picking up and carrying 50 pounds.
